Mr. Rettig retired as Executive VicePresident, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for National Oilwell Varco, Inc. (“NOV”) at the end of 2014 after 24 years with the Company. NOV is a Houston based worldwide leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of equipment used in oil and gas drilling and production operations, and the provision of oilfield and supply chain integration services to the oil and gas industry. In 2014, NOV had approximately $22 billion in revenue with 65,000 employees, operations in 75 countries, and was in the S&P 100.
The Company experienced significant growth in the last few years, both organically and through acquisitions. In 1999, National Oilwell had approximately $750 million in revenue, less than 3000 employees and operations in 8countries. NOV has completed over 250 acquisitions in the last 10 years.
Mr. Rettig served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary from February 2009 until his retirement and as the Company’s Vice President and General Counsel from February 1999 until his retirement. Mr. Rettig earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University and his JD and MBA from the University of Houston.
